Welcome

It is with pleasure that we welcome you to the official website for the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Knights Hospitaller. We are an ecumenical Christian Order that was founded by King Peter II of Yugoslavia, under the Constitution he proclaimed on the October 1st, 1963.

Whilst we are a part of an ancient Order of Chivalry that dates back to the Middle Ages, we are very much a modern Order that is dedicated to preserving the Christian faith, and for service to humanity, with a particular focus on charity.

The current Grand Master of our Order is Prince Karl Vladimir Karajorgevich of Yugoslavia, who together with his wife Princess Brigitta remain actively involved in the activities of the Order, and its antecedent charities.

As an Order we are constituted from a number of individual Priories that are located around the world; all of whom do wonderful work for the communities they serve. The Priories combine internationally so as to assist in more significant events and issues when appropriate. In addition to the Priories, we operate two primary Charities internationally. These are

• The Mother and Child Foundation
• White Cross International

The Order’s motto is Pro Fide, Pro Utilitate Hominum which translates as ‘For Faith, For Service to Humanity’ which serves as a Member’s moral compass and guidebook and is upheld by all Order Members while they strive to serve the sick, poor, and the needy within their respective communities to the best of their individual and collaborative ability. Please respectfully note that Membership of the Order is by invitation only, we do however welcome any assistance that anyone, regardless of their religious background, may wish to give Members of the Order in the regular conduct of their Christian responsibilities to assist those in need.
